GO AHEAD GET ORGANIZED
The warm days are starting to draw to an end. A time to hang up the swimsuits, send the kids back to school and hit the refresh button on our homes. Between the kids, housework and our jobs it’s easy to let the clutter pile up as we tackle our everyday routines. One of the best ways to ensure that our homes function properly is by being organized. It also brings with it a sense of accomplishment opening up cupboards of crisply stacked linens and seeing neatly lined bookshelves. Bring on the guests that call right before they stop in! Here are some of my favourite tips. De Clutter, this starts by knowing our clutter hot spots and identifying the red flags of what’s not working. Schedule an hour or two on an upcoming weekend to make sure you have the time to reorganize. If you haven’t used it, if it doesn’t have a home and if it doesn’t have a foreseeable future, let it go.
Take into account your daily routines when you are putting things away and store things where they work for you. Keep items you use everyday in plain sight. Mark storage boxes as you switch in and out of seasons to avoid pawing through unnamed boxes at a later date. Get Creative! Wicker baskets make stylish toy chests for example. Preserve children’s drawings in a photo album, Don’t treat drawers like catchalls except for that one junk drawer that you have... You know the one! We all have one. Organize your items room by room, don't let them pile up, and make life smoother day to day because of it in the coming months.
