FIRST AND LAST IMPRESSION

The first step inside your home, the first impression, it may not be a big space but it can certainly make a big impact. The foyer can leave you feeling confined and uncomfortable if you're not paying attention to how yours is set up. This area tends to serve as a place where members of the house drop things off as they enter the door. What do you do to impress buyers and give them not only a great first impression as they enter but a lasting impression as they're leaving? Less is more is definitely in play in this space if it's not a grand entry. Also keep in mind though there must be some kind of design going on so things don't feel cold as guests or potential buyers enter.

This transitory spot is the best place to stick small, compact but functional furniture. The furniture market has been hit with lots of ways to increase storage and one of our faves from Ikea is the Hemnes. A slim and modern entry way cabinet that holds 12 pairs of shoes at only 11 inches in depth. Adding a foyer table can transform the look of your space and bring out a bit of your personality and has options ranging from a modern to a more traditional look. It can also add organization and display usefulness in this busy area. If you are looking for a more comfortable and inviting space, an entry way bench with a few throw pillows creates a softened look that allows functionality. Too small for a bench? A console table and an ottoman can create the same feel. Consider this entrance your opportunity to sweep buyers off their feet all while setting the tone for the rest of the house. Don’t be afraid of bold prints, statement mirrors and the chance to showcase your personality as well.
